March 3, 1970. The first president, Dr. Richard D. Trent begins his tenure
September 28, 1970. The College is established as a senior college and named after Medgar Evers
September 19, 1971. The opening day of classes for the City University’s new Medgar Evers College
September 1989. Dr. Edison O. Jackson is named as President
July 1, 1994. After years of struggle, MEC wins back its original 4-year senior college status
June 4, 2004. A ground breaking ceremony for Academic and Student Support Services Buildings is held
August 2009. Dr. William L. Pollard is named as MEC President
June 24, 2013. Dr. Rudolph F. Crew is named as MEC President
June 25, 2020. Subway stations renamed in honor of Medgar Evers College
September 28, 2020. Medgar Evers College celebrates its 50th anniversary
March 1, 2021. Dr. Denise B. Maybank is named as Interim President
March 23, 2021. Dr. Patricia Ramsey is named as MEC President
September 29, 2022. Dr. Patricia Ramsey is inaugurated as MEC President
