As you are aware, the 2019 coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak continues to spread, and it is a concern to us all. In these uneasy times, we are working to ensure that our community members remain safe and our facilities remain accessible.
It is important to remember that we are all in this together. As a College, a city, and a global community, we need to look out for and help each other to get through this difficult period. This is a time for taking precautions, showing vigilance and concern for others, and not a time for panic or prejudice.

Bill Renaming Subway Stations to Honor Medgar Evers College Signed into Law
December 17, 2019 Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a bill that directs the MTA to rename two subway stations in Central Brooklyn in recognition of Medgar Evers College and the civil rights leader after which the college is named.

A new Governance Plan
A new Governance Plan adopted in 2013 replaces the 1992 Plan, provides improved manageability, reduces duplication of effort, and reinforces the College Council’s role as the College’s sole governance body.

Ribbon cutting for the Academic Building I
On October 04, 2010 a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Academic Building I was held.
Where once stood a Department of Sanitation garage, now stands a five story, 191,000 gross square foot brick structure – designed by renowned architect Todd Schliemann of Ennead Architects, L.L.P. (formerly Polshek Partnership) – featuring 87 faculty and administrative offices for all science departments, information technology services, and Public Safety; numerous student study areas; a faculty dining room; a glass pavilion, 264-seat dining hall; and a multi-purpose room to be used for lectures, concerts, and social functions.
